Share monitoring access with your team
Overview
Team collaboration features (Professional and Enterprise tiers) allow multiple users to share access to monitors with role-based permissions.
Creating a Team
- Go to Settings → Teams
- Click “Create Team”
- Enter team name
- You’re automatically assigned as team admin
Inviting Team Members
Send Invitation
- Go to your team page
- Click “Invite Member”
- Enter email address
- Select role (Admin, Editor, or Viewer)
- Click “Send Invitation”
Invitation Process
- Invitee receives email with invite link
- They can accept and join your team
- If they don’t have an account, they’ll create one
- Upon acceptance, they get access to team monitors
Roles and Permissions
Admin
Can do:
- Everything an Editor can do
- Invite and remove team members
- Change member roles
- Delete the team
- Manage billing (Enterprise)
Use for: Team leads, infrastructure managers
Editor
Can do:
- Create, edit, and delete monitors
- View all monitor data and history
- Configure notifications
- Test notifications
Cannot do:
- Manage team members
- Change team settings
Use for: DevOps engineers, developers
Viewer
Can do:
- View monitors and their status
- View check-in history
- View dashboards
Cannot do:
- Create or edit monitors
- Configure notifications
- Access team settings
Use for: Stakeholders, managers, auditors
Shared Monitors
All team monitors are visible to all team members (filtered by role permissions):
- Admins and Editors: Full access
- Viewers: Read-only access
Creating Monitors for Team
When you create a monitor within a team project, all team members can see it.
Team Projects
Projects belong to teams:
- Each team can have multiple projects
- Project ping keys are shared within the team
- All monitors in a project are visible to team
Notification Preferences
Team-Wide Notifications
Configure notifications to go to:
- Team Discord/Slack channel
- Shared email address
- PagerDuty rotation
Personal Notifications
Individual team members can also receive notifications
:
- Add your personal email
- Add individual Discord/Slack DM
Audit Trail
Track team activity:
- Who created/modified monitors
- When changes were made
- Who received alerts
Available in team dashboard under “Activity”.

- Admin: Account manager
- Editors: Consulting engineers

Best Practices
1. Principle of Least Privilege
Give members only the permissions they need.
2. Use Team Channels
Set notifications to team channels, not individual users.
3. Regular Access Reviews
Periodically review team membership and remove former members.
4. Separate Teams for Different Clients
Don’t mix client projects in the same team.
5. Document Escalation Procedures
Use team documentation to clarify who responds to what.
Managing Team Members
Changing Roles
- Go to team settings
- Find member in list
- Click role dropdown
- Select new role
Removing Members
- Go to team settings
- Find member in list
- Click “Remove”
- Confirm removal
Member loses access immediately.
Billing
Professional Tier
- Up to 5 team members included
- Additional members: $5/month each
Enterprise Tier
- Unlimited team members
- Custom billing available
Troubleshooting
Invitation Not Received
- Check spam folder
- Verify email address is correct
- Resend invitation
Member Can’t See Monitors
- Verify they accepted invitation
- Check they’re logged into correct account
- Verify project permissions
Can’t Remove Member
Only team admins can remove members. If you’re not admin, contact team admin.
